Happy Easter

I woke up this morning around 6. I looked outside, sipping my coffee, and realized how calm and nice the water was. I thought it would be a great morning for my son and I to catch a few .  So I woke him up and we hit the water. It was a bit chilly but my son's blood was pumping with excitement. It was the first time we got to hit the lake together this year. We were out all morning casting in every direction and trying at every depth. Nothing. Not even a nibble. I felt bad for him but I think he had a good time. Being outside spending time with him beats being inside near a tv or Xbox or whatever. So Tyler and I will have to wait another day to tag team the lake! Later that day in the afternoon, the sun was out from behind the clouds showing its warm face. My Amazing/Beautiful Girl Nikki was over and I talked her into going in the boat. I dont think she likes fishing all too much but i think she is coming around. She sees how crazy and excited I get and maybe its rubbing off onto her. If not, oh well. She got to relax from working a stressful job and the oprotunity to see some turtles on good old Lake Fairfield.

Danny Boy's Rod N Reel

Danny Boy won the tourney on opening day. This is the rod n reel he used to catch that whopper with.

They sell this combo at BPS for like 70 dollars. Its a Pflueger Trion GX-7 Spinning Rod and Reel. The   GX-7 combo is very smooth casting and retrieving. Its a great bang for your buck.

Like Father Like Son

One of these days. . . . . .

(Above) The bass weighed 25 pounds, 1 ounce on a hand-held scale, which – if approved – would shatter the world record, the 22-pound, 4-ounce bass caught by George W. Perry at Montgomery Lake in Georgia in 1932.

Rick looking for advice from his mentor

I think a total of 6 bass were caught between the 6 of us. I didn't even catch one. The water was 52 degrees today with a great deal of cloud cover until noonish. Once the sun came out I thought our luck would change. NOPE! it got got worse. Nobody could even pay to get a nibble. We tried plastics, spinners, cranks,  and different colors. Shit, I even tried using a net. But a day without fish is still a day fishing. Danny was the winner. He caught a 3 1/2-4 pounder. I didn't get any pics on my camera but danny got some on his phone. I'm sure he will upload them sooner or later. Overall, today was a great day to just get out, relax, and play with our new reels and rods.
